Slumdog Millionaire

Bollywood... it takes time to realize it's only a movie, a love story with a social background. Music and camera movements, adventures and changes in the story... you have to follow the three muskeeters, the heroes: two odd brothers and a girl, always a girl. There's a game too, you might know it, it's on TV worldwide: "Who wants to be a millionaire?". Jalem doesn't want but... Go to see the movie and you will know the end, and you will discover India with its clichés (Taj Mahal and Victoria Station included), its poverty (the slums of the title) and inequalities... Good images for the baccalauréat and perhaps, it will remind the 1ère euro of the Yamuna River, last year.

To answer Ange I just wanted to say that he's right : there are two really different parts in this movie. One serious, the other more "debilitated" (?!?!?). But I think this is one of its good point : including the love story and the happy end, the movie may have attracted more people... especially the ones who never go the the cinema to see movies for "intellos"... and those person, while watching the "debilitating romance" saw the part concerning India' poverty. And it may have made them thinking... what they couldn't have done if they hadn't seen the movie ! (I'm not sure about times in this sentence...)

Unlike Ange and like Valentine, I really liked this movie. It is really taking, and I thought about it long after I saw it: to me this is what differenciates a good movie from a bad one. This being said, i wish a great vacation to everyone!

Allright. So you take India, you take the slums just to say "we're going to denonce indian misery", you take this crazy english director, Danny Boyle to say "It's going to be violent, but very well directed", and you take a "touching" love story, to make people happy. And this is what you have. In terms of realisation, it's more like a rap-clip than a movie. Why not ? during the first hour, you can think "it's fast, it's violent, it can be a really good movie". Then comes the second hour. The love story turns into a debilitating romance. In the end, everybody's happy, and love wins upon all the bad people in the world. You have all the 'ingredients' to make a "bankable " movie. But you forget the ingredients that makes a great movie. A great disappointment, because a movie about india could have really interesting. Blop Blop Bleurk.

I enjoyed very much this movie!!!This movie shows the true reality of India in one of the bigest mumbay's slum. We can see the hard reality of this young children who are most of the time atracted by the money because they have nothing. Jamel tells us his hard childhood in India. This movie talks about this problem between the muslims and the hindous who still exists.
I liked very much bollywood's movies and this one was very good and the actors play very well!!! Hope they will win an oscar .
